Loud and Loaded is a short and snappy “tour de force” for percussion ensemble. It features mant of the latin percussion instruments common in schools:

Taking Timpani out of the “formal” role they normally have in orchestras and bands into this punchy, dynamic role in this piece can inspire the students to want to play them!

Of course if you don’t have Timpani or any of the other instruments then don’t worry - like all my pieces they are infinitely flexible with the instrumentation.

Strong Unison Opening Figures - Great Practice in “togetherness”

The opening, and this occurs several times through the piece there is some unison figures which the whole ensemble plays in response to the cowbell. This is great practice in getting the ensemble to play together in control

Strong Latin Grooves - Everyone plays an important part

The piece is structured around several latin grooves, and every single instrument plays a really important part, from the Cowbell, to the Claves and the tambourine. No Player is left out!

Dramatic Ending Groove and Unison Figure

The Drum Set comes to the fore with a Mambo/Songo Groove, which will challenge your drum set player and enliven the entire group in this last groove
