Do you want your students to have a better understand of Latin feels, and to groove at different dynamic levels, and to have your audiences tapping their feet and dancing in their seats?
Introducing…

As always, if you don’t have these exact instruments, it doesn’t matter. You can always chop and change and adapt the piece to your needs.
The piece starts off with the instruments entering a few at a time, starting with the drums, then moving onto the auxiliary percussion instruments, and then the bass and keys.

When the vibraphone comes in with the melody, it’s backed up by a groovy bass line and lighter percussion instruments. It’s great for the students to learn that just because a piece is really energetic and fast, it doesn’t have to be heavy. When the snare and floor tom come in, the groove is filled out a little more, but still retains a light feel.

The bridge of the tune toes to a half time ‘cha cha’ type feel.

After the bridge, the bass returns to its original double time feel. The percussion instruments have a break down section, where first the snare and floor tom come in conversing with the cowbell. Each instrument comes in a few at a time, in the same vein as the introduction, before returning to the initial melody.

The tune builds to an exciting conclusion, finishing off with a cool unison figure.
